The process
Every piece is built from real data — elevation for the terrain, building footprints for the city. The shape of the streets is the shape of the streets.
Printing takes about 15 hours. The relief builds up in layers, so the surface is genuinely raised: the ground rises, the buildings stand off it, and you can feel both.
Each one is printed to order in Zürich and framed before it ships.
Materials
The relief is printed in PLA, a plant-based plastic, in two colours. The contrast you see is the material itself.
Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from heat and it will stay exactly as it arrived. Framed, on a wall, indoors, that asks nothing of you.
The series
A single, curated body of work. Each piece is a Swiss city cut from its own terrain data, and each is chosen, one at a time, because the shape of that place holds up as an object on a wall. The series grows slowly and by selection.
The same workshop and the same elevation data make a second thing: redmark.world — where every piece is a real place at the height it actually is.
